Rise of Magic

Once the world was full of magic. During this time, often referred to as the age of magic, mighty wizards cast powerful spells, Items of great power were forged and mystical beast of immense power were common across the land. Although there were many conflicts over this time order was triumphant, and great civilizations prospered. Then a great calamity occurred and the magic of the world started to fade. Magics, once so common place, retreated to remote corners of the globe becoming increasingly scarce. Many teachings were lost and countless magical beast were believed to go extinct. Fewer and fewer showed affinity toward the magical arts, wizards' arcane knowledge gave diminishing returns, druids could call less on the power of nature, and the gods seemed less likely to answer the call of all but their most devoted disciples. Soon the large empires, no longer able to rely on powerful magics to help sustain them began to fall. This magical drought lasted nearly one thousand years.

However, it now seems that this drought may be coming to an end. Over the past one hundred years, beasts once thought lost have be seen in ever increasing numbers, magic scrolls, text long faded, once again glow bright with scorching lettering, rituals which once believed doomed to failure have become once again successful. The cause of this magical resurgence is unknown, and many great scholars seek the answers.
